He is currently signed to Combate Americas. 2 Ortiz is best known for his involvement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and as a former Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th, 2001 to September 26, 2003, he was the Light Heavyweight Champion. He was among the first stars of the sport alongside fighters such as Randy Couture or Chuck Liddell. Ortiz ended up becoming the biggest pay-per-view entrant of 2006 because of his fights with Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Ken Shamrock.Ortiz is the president of Punishment Athletics' MMA equipment as well as clothing line, located in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California.
