Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to the community. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of nine kids raised within Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Two, football. He is among three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975, and was designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in college. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons for the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. He then began his career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
